रहिए अब ऐसी जगह
ग़ालिब
रहिए अब ऐसी जगह चल कर जहाँ कोई न हो
हम-सुख़न कोई न हो और हम-ज़बाँ कोई न हो
बे-दर-ओ-दीवार सा इक घर बनाया चाहिए
कोई हम-साया न हो और पासबाँ कोई न हो
पड़िए गर बीमार तो कोई न हो तीमारदार
और अगर मर जाइए तो नौहा-ख़्वाँ कोई न हो
Go live in such a place

Go live in such a place where no one is
where no one can understand you
where no one can hear you
Go build a house
without doors, without walls
without shadows, without countrymen
If you fall ill, no one can attend you
If you fall dead, no one can lament you
Go live in such a place
رہیے اب ایسی جگہ چل کر
مرزا غالب
رہیے اب ایسی جگہ چل کر
جہاں کوئی نا ہو
ہماسکھان کوئی نا ہو
اور ہمزبان کوئی نا ہو
رہیے اب ایسی جگہ
بے-در-او-دیوار کا ایک
گھر بنایا چاہئے
بے-در-او-دیوار کا ایک
گھر بنایا چاہئے
کوئی ہمسایا نا ہوور پسبن کوئی نا ہو
رہیے اب ایسی جگہ
پڑیے گر بیمار تو
کوئی نا ہو تماردر
پڑیے گر بیمار تو
کوئی نا ہو تماردر
اور اگر مار جائیے تو
نوہخوان کوئی نا ہو
رہیے اب ایسی جگہ۔

rahiye ab aisī jagah chal kar jahāñ koī na ho
ham-suķhan koī na ho aur ham-zabāñ koī na ho
rahiye ab aisī jagah
be-dar-o-dīvār sā ik ghar banāyā chāhiye
be-dar-o-dīvār sā ik ghar banāyā chāhiye
koī ham-sāya na ho aur pāsbāñ koī na ho
rahiye ab aisī jagah
padiye gar bīmār to koī na ho tīmārdār
padiye gar bīmār to koī na ho tīmārdār
aur agar mar jāiye to nauha-ķhvāñ koī na ho
rahiye ab aisī jagah
Direct translation of Hindi/Urdu:
Live now in a type of place where when you go, there
is no one
Where no one knows our speech and no one can hear
our words
Live now in such a place.
A house without doors and walls should be built
A house without doors and walls should be built
There should be no shadows and no one/neighbors
near
Live now in such a place.
If you fall ill, then no one will be there to attend to you
If you fall ill, then no one will be there to attend to you
And if you fall dead, then no one will be there to
